Out With The Old, In With The New

When Jennifer and her family made the move to Abbotsford from Kelowna, it was an exciting step towards owning their own home and they thought they had it all figured out.

It was a new beginning for them, with a new job and the comforts of a new home. The home was built in the 1980s and instead of the warm welcome they were anticipating, Jennifer and her family were welcomed with old aluminum windows that caused more problems than they originally expected.     

“It was freezing inside our home throughout the day. I had to crank our furnace up very high and we were getting expensive heating bills.” 

After the first few weeks in their new home, it became clear that the cold drafts weren’t going away.  Jennifer had to worry about another common problem that comes with old aluminum windows, the dirt and decay on their window sills.

“I spent 15-20 hours wiping the windows with bleach to eliminate the dirt and mould growing. It took too much time out of our day and it was disgusting.” Not the best housewarming gift for any family. The search for new windows began and Jennifer rushed to the internet to research and explore all her options. 

“I went to Google and called the top three companies. Centra was on the top of my list. They took their time with the presentation in their showroom. That process really helped finalize our decision.”

Left with little choice, it was time for a major upgrade

The Centra crew suited up and embarked on their mission to restore comfort for this family of four. Just a few days later, the Centra team installed 18 new energy-efficient vinyl windows and cleaned up all the mess that was left behind. Now the interior of the home is cozier and the exterior looks a whole lot better. Curb appeal is always an integral factor when selecting a window company and Jennifer understood those benefits instantly.

"I’m loving the updated look of our home. It feels better when we come up the driveway. It’s fresh, clean and looks great.”

While it sounds just dandy, Jennifer did mention a slight problem…

“We've slept in three times because it's so quiet. That's the only bad part, if you want to call it that. In all seriousness, I’m not complaining about the extra sleep.”
