What’s the job?

As the Health & Safety officer you will be a leader within People and Culture team responsible for monitoring and evaluating health and safety program(s) while updating safety policies and procedures. You will be training and implementing Centra’s safety program for various employee groups to ensure compliance with all company policies and local provincial and federal regulations. You will identify hazards and assess risk to health and safety involving individuals to identify the appropriate safety controls and provide advice on accident prevention and occupational health to both management and employees. You will develop and foster strong partnerships with leaders to drive safety standards to new heights.

What are the job tasks?

  • Delivering, and communicating in house training programs, present and communicate at company events, develop and deliver training programs.
  • Provide direction, support, and training to develop and implement initiatives.
  • Maintain a robust safety program with empowered and informed employees.
  • Optimize worker’s health and safety measures and foster a positive occupational health and safety culture.
  • Maintain Centra’s FERST (Family, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Respect, Safety, and Teamwork) values and culture in everything you undertake to build stronger knowledge and communication with everyone.
  • Identify safety training requirements, make recommendations to Safety committee and schedule the training as approved and required.
  • Partnerships and performance are the keys to success in this role.
  • Conduct site visits to support crews while tracking the success of safety improvements.

Some characteristics we’re interested in:

  • Residential & commercial construction or carpentry experience/ticket
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license
  • Occupational Health and Safety Training education
  • ACSA’s Auditor Training Course
  • OFA Level 2
  • Computer proficiency
  • Tickets for:
    • Asbestos High Risk, Lead, Fall Arrest, man lift, forklift scissor lift
