 What’s the job?

 As the Manufacturing Lead for the Door Department, you will ensure the smooth operation of our state-of-the-art door manufacturing line. You'll be responsible for maintaining a safe work environment, achieving quality production, managing staff performance, controlling costs, and caring for equipment. Embracing Centra’s values of Family, Entrepreneurial Spirit, Respect, Safety, and Teamwork, you will drive the team to meet daily and weekly production goals, often requiring flexibility with overtime and weekend work. Some core accountabilities include:

  • Team Leadership: Lead and support your team to achieve targets, provide direction, and foster development and safety. Train new employees and resolve conflicts, communicating concerns to Management as needed.
  • Scheduling: Ensure daily and weekly production targets are met, conducting daily huddles to review performance and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Order Completeness: Oversee order completion, ensuring all necessary notes are entered into the system and back-ordered items are resolved within the timeframe set by Production Management.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure doors meet Centra's quality standards and that all quality procedures and documentation controls are followed.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in maintaining inventory levels through regular communication with the purchasing team and by taking action when inventory reaches minimum levels. Identify opportunities for improved inventory control.
  • Equipment Care: Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment, report issues to the Maintenance Dept and Production Management, and assist with planned maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Waste Control: Minimize waste from staff errors and equipment issues, monitor for repeating mistakes, and report them to Maintenance, Production Supervisors, and Management.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Minimum 2 years in a lead position within a manufacturing environment; window and door manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead, train, and develop a team, with strong communication skills.
  • Technical Skills: Understanding of manufacturing processes and quality standards; carpentry skills are a plus.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot production issues and implement improvements.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet production demands.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and handle materials as needed for racking and preparation tasks.
