Centra Cares & CMHA on CTV

At Centra Windows’ heart lies a unique spirit of giving, where our Employee Owners have the chance to nominate causes that matter the most to them. These nominations are then transformed into impactful initiatives for positive change through our charitable foundation, Centra Cares. This year, the biggest recipient of our support was the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). Centra Cares and CTV recently visited the CMHA offices to learn more about the vital work they do and talk about what both charities have accomplished this year.

Supporting the Work of the CMHA

Mental health, a topic historically shrouded in stigma, has risen to prominence. It has always been important, but as the world grapples with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic and the weight of a cost-of-living crisis, the work of charities such as CMHA has become even more essential. The good people on the front line who are helping those who’ve found themselves in dark places are in need of our support. With this in mind, Centra Cares chose the Canadian Mental Health Associations of BC and Alberta as the recipients of funds raised from our Annual Golf Tournament. This year was the most successful ever, and we raised $110,000 for the CMHA! Championing mental health awareness is something important to us here at Centra, so we’re grateful to have the opportunity to help.

The Mission behind Centra Cares

In 2023, Centra Cares reached a remarkable milestone – we’ve surpassed $1.75 million in total funds raised, and we’ve now helped over 250 charities! The impact of Centra Cares extends far beyond the realm of numbers. This year, Centra Cares undertook a transformative home renovation project, providing a family in need with free high-performance windows. The beneficiaries of this act of kindness were facing a unique challenge – their young son had a DNA repair deficiency, meaning he cannot be exposed to UV light. The impact of this initiative goes far beyond aesthetics – it has created a safe and comfortable haven where the family's son can thrive, protected from the elements that posed a threat to his health. Centra Cares plans to ramp up our efforts even further in the coming year.
